thoughts chase me—
at dawn, both half dead.
Saturday morning—
cyclists on the downhill
still smelling of soap.
Silver-haired painter drives off,
a red leaf falls
from the eucalyptus.
Crunch—old garden chair breaks,
revealing many bugs
and me on the ground.
