Chapbook Cover DesignAuthors may choose from the cover and text design templates shown here (or suggest a design of their own). Clip art or other graphics* are provided for the cover illustration, or authors can provide their own artwork. Type fonts for cover and text may also be selected, or others requested. The templates on this website are intended as guidelines only.In practice, these design templates are modified at no extra charge to suit the content and style of each book. Take a look at the cover designs on the Books in Print pages for more ideas. The cover templates also show the six colors that are available for “basic” books, regardless of design style: grey, ivory, blue, green, buff and white. (See Beyond the Basics and About Paper for more information on cover and text paper.) The best way to experience a chapbook is to hold it and turn the pages. The print version of the Chapbook Catalogue is itself a chapbook and may be ordered for free, along with a basic sample chapbook of poetry or prose (only one per person, please). Additional 80# cover samples will be included with the free catalogue. An ISBN (International Standard Book Number) and a bar code can be included with your book. *Scanned watercolors by Louise Franco may be appropriate for some cover designs. An example is Twelve Love Poems by Ronald Jones or design sample C9. Check out Louise's virtual art gallery (Flash player required). Email any questions to Jo-Anne Rosen. |
