As a medical ombudsperson, I investigate and help solve medical problems, most of which
are brought to me by the consumer (citizen) who feels that adequate medical care and/or health
information is not being given by the provider (physician, hospital).
The practice of medicine has become less user friendly. As managed care increases, cost becomes more important, bureaucracy increases, and medical language and technology proliferate. In general, there are many demands for physicians time and skills. There are, however, very few incompetent physicians. Often, communication between two physicians is all that is necessary to resolve a medical problem between a provider and a patient. I am a licensed, board-certified California physician with over 30 years of medical experience. I also have a Masters of Public Health degree. I received my education and training at the University of California, San Francisco, Memorial Sloan-Kettering in New York, and the University of California, Berkeley. Expertise, compassion, and understanding, together with advocacy, research and communication have enabled me to become quite successful in resolving medical problems.
Most of the work that I do will be by telephone, fax and/or e-mail. I rarely will have to meet
with the involved parties. If this is unsatisfactory, then other arrangements can be made.
